Your Garden Coaches:
Wes~ General Manager
Wes has been in the business since he was 4. Wes is a 2012 graduate of UK with a Bachelor of Business Management degree. He is a Ky. Certified Nurseryman, a Certified Pest Agent/Applicator with the Ky. Department of Agriculture and he’s also ‘Proven Winners’ and ‘Espoma’ Certified. Wes served on the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Nursery and Landscape Association from 2014-2020. Some of his interests include kayaking, fishing, biking and most anything outside. Ask Wes about some of his favorite plants- Blackgum, Weigela, Coral Bells and Annual Vinca.
Steve~ Founder
Steve started in the garden center business in the mid-90’s and has worked in the industry ever since. His first garden center was located in Danville, Ky. , then Nicholasville, Ky. and has been in this current location since 2008. Steve is a Ky. Certified Nurseryman, is ‘Proven Winners’ certified and ‘Espoma’ Certified. When he’s not working, Steve enjoys wood-working, biking, hunting, fishing and almost any activity outdoors. Some of his favorite plants are Echinacea, Itea and Black Gum.
Russ~ Nursery Manager
Russ has been with us since March 2010 and has 15 years of experience in the garden center business. He is a University of Kentucky graduate, Ky. Certified Nurseryman, and Certified Pesticide Agent with the Ky. Department of Agriculture. Russ enjoys gardening, golf, UK athletics and anything outside. Some of his favorite plants are the Serviceberry, Ninebark and Epimedium.
Jacob~ Garden Shop Manager
Jacob has been with us since March 2012 and has been an avid herb gardener since 2005. He is a Ky. Certified Nurseryman and is Proven Winners’ and ‘Espoma’ Certified. When Jacob’s not working, he enjoys herb gardening, hiking, tennis and fishkeeping (aquariums). He is excited to help and always willing to share his knowledge of his favorite plants- bee balm, dill and basil.
Rich~ Tree/Shrub Specialist
Rich has been with us since the spring of 2013 but has 18 years in the garden center business, working in Pennsylvania, California and Vermont. When he’s not working, Rich enjoys bonsai gardening, winter gardening and playing squash and badminton. Rich is a Ky. Certified Nurseryman and would love to talk with you about his favorite plants- scented geraniums, witchhazel and lilacs.
Ian~ Landscape Designer
Ian has been with us since the Spring of 2013 and has been our Landscape Designer since Spring of 2016. Prior to that, Ian served as a customer service associate. Ian graduated in Spring 2018 with a Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Kentucky. His hobbies include playing golf, hanging out with friends and exploring nature. Ian’s favorite plants are Wildfire Blackgum, Sunny Swirl False Cypress and Onyx Odyssey Lenten Rose.
